A down and dirty account of what it's like to wear the uniform. Very limited edits as less fluff. This guy's been there and done that and these are his words, Brooklyn accent and all.Great job. Stay well brother.
Truly enjoyed reading this book. This book is written based on true facts I have had the pleasure and honor of meeting Jack, getting to know him, and learning of his dedication to protect his City. There are sad moments, happy moments an many rewarding moments. Thank you for your service, Jack, and sharing "War Stories". Highly recommend reading this novel
War Stories, a story straight from the mouth of the man in the street, true narrative with the human side of a tough job.
My Dad was a Sgt in the Four-One in the seventies. Most of my neighbors were NYPD then too. I remember listening to them talk about work back then, but as kids, we were told to go play. One of my neighbors from back then, who was also 4-1 and later, ESU, recently passed. After his funeral, we all went out to a local restaurant. Many of his fellow cops were there. Being 53 now, and a NYS C.O. I was allowed to the grown up table. Sitting there, I had the strangest revelation...these men were my childhood heroes.Dad passed a few years ago, but driving home that day, his presence along side me was stronger than ever. Life was simple again...if only for a few hours, and I had revisited my childhood. My happy, happy childhood.Thanks for the book Jack.Thanks for taking me home again.
Excellent story about Jack Fitzgerald's career with the NYPD. Everything Jack wrote is true-no fiction. As a young child I also remember the Police related stories and events from listening to my father and uncles. Jack worked in high crime locations in Brooklyn and describes the action, excitement, but also the sadness that every cop encounters during their career. In his story Jack doesn't just speak about himself he includes all the great Police Officers and bosses that he worked with during his career.
I had the pleasure of working with Jack in the 94 for a short while and I can attest to the fact that Jack was an excellent P.O. Enjoyed reading about Jack's career. The book was ver well written
Great reading for those who worked in Brooklyn North area during the 70's & 80's. I work in that area and have know Jack for my entire 25 year career in the NYPD. I can attest that his stories are true to fact since I am included in some of them. His writing is well versed and understandable. A well done read for those interested in Police work during the hard times of the era.
