This is our second Nancy Tillman book, and won't be our last. My children were gifted their first as a Christmas gift a few years ago, and it is still a favorite. You and Me and the Wishing Tree was a gift for our daughter (3) from the Easter Bunny. She was enchanted immediately by the beautiful cover, and we weren't disappointed a bit once we sat down and read. It's now in the rotation for bed time stories and is loved by both my daughter and her 4 year old brother. Great illustration and lovely stories. These will be books you will save for your grandchildren etc. Definetly worth every penny!
This is probably the only Nancy Tillman book I would buy or recommend. I have read a few of her other books at the library and bookstore and was not impressed. This is the only title I read that I liked enough to buy as a gift. I will buy copies of this title again for shower and Christmas gifts. (The illustrations in her books are very nice and enjoyable. It's the actual writing I didn't like. )
If I had to pick one author to read to my children for the rest of their life, I think it would be Nancy Tillman. The words are beautiful, the pictures are mesmerizing, and the books calm my children down so much before bedtime. These books make awesome gifts, also.
Beautiful. Only problem is that this book (and her others) make me sob. I purchased this as a gift for an acquaintance (my son's classmate) but it's so intimate I almost feel it's not appropriate so I'm going to keep it for another gift or keep it for my kids (ages 3.5, 2 and 0)
We love ALL Nancy Tillman's books and this newest addition to our collection did not disappoint. I have been reading the board books to my daughter since she was an infant and they are now her favorite to read at bedtime (she is 2.5). Yes, the words are geared a little more for an older child (and definitely for parents), but even small babies and toddlers can understand the meaning. I give these as part of my gift at all baby showers!
You just can’t beat a Nancy Tillman book. We own all of them except for one that was written by a religious leader (not a religious family but I’m sure is a lovely book for a family that is.) The stories & artwork are my sons favorite & can’t wait for my daughter to enjoy as she gets older.
I have purchased all of Nancy Tillman's books for my daughter and this one does not disappoint. The pictures are always phenomenal and the message is sweet with a poetic rhythm. This will be a favorite bedtime story.
I bought this book without ever having read it - or seen it, for that matter - and am glad I did. It's a very sweet story, and the illustrations are lovely. I gave it to my daughter-in-law, whose baby is due in February, and I'm sure my first grandchild will love it.
