This was a great map. It's big and cumbersome, but the city is so densely populated, I don't see how it could have been done any smaller.Worked best for planning where to go and marking destinations on map before going out, then using it as quick reference to orient.HOWEVER if I go back, I'd get a bilingual map. At one point I got lost off of the main roads and the back roads aren't named. Blocks are named, but not in English, so I couldn't look at (kanji) 32-1 and know WHICH 32-1 I was right next to, since all of the blocks I could be next to had the same numbers, except different kanji. And then when I asked for directions, my map was all in English and the locals had no idea where I was on it either. Not a big deal, but since not quite everything in Tokyo is marked in languages besides Japanese, a bilingual map is occasionally very helpful.
I used this ridiculously oversized map to look lost, and eventually a Japanese person would come to help me out. The only thing of real use was the subway map which isn't as easy to fold out. If you go to the Major stations they also have sheets that you could have that have all the rail lines of Tokyo that are more likely up to date. There's not much practical use for this as a casual traveler, but if you want to look lost and get help, this is perfect. I joked about this with my friend, and no lie, within 2 seconds someone came up to me and guided us personally to our destination. So there is some use to this as it is a glaring arrow that points to us saying we're lost. But getting lost in Tokyo is the best, cause I've met and made so many friends that way.
Durable and rugged. Well labeled. Easy to keep track of in my bag with other maps.
The map is outstanding but it took a long time to arrive!
