Gorgeous Book!
STUNNING! These pictures of gorgeous, old homes, put me in a Christmas road trip mood!This is mainly a picture book, but there's writing to tell the significance of home being shown, who owned it, historical background etc. Many of the homes are of past presidents, or homes from historical eras such as colonial Williamsburg with photos of people dressed in that time period, doing things from that era.Beautiful, gorgeous pictures of homes done up for the Christmas holiday ( although there was one not very much so. Could've been from any time) but for most part snow helped the spirit of the pictures, gorgeously decorated Christmas trees & other objects such as nativity scenes. One house/museum was of Spanish descent so no snow, lots of poinsettias & Spanish hacienda look, in place of what we traditionally think of for the seasonIt reminded me of going to Longwood Gardens at Christmas time. Some pictures had outdoor lighting, beautiful indoor displays & just reminded me of homes such as the DuPont homeI'd highly recommend this as a coffee table book to be put out during this season, then put away again until the next year, just to keep it as a special time of year book, looking back at Christmases pastI received a digital copy of this book from Net Galley & Schiffer Printing--Thank you!
